Recent Grants

All school grant awards require a matching component. These matching ratios are indicated in parentheses following the dollar amount. For example, a grant description of "$50,000 (1:3)" indicates that the Foundation will provide up to $50,000 on a basis of one dollar from the Foundation for every three dollars raised by the school.

GRANTS TO SCHOOLS
In 2007, the following grants were made to schools:

Bosque School $50,000 1:2 To help the school raise restricted endowment for need-based financial aid for students in grades 9-12
Cambridge School of Weston $50,000 1:2 To instigate a Professional Development Teams Initiative, facilitating the professional development of faculty through team-based research, observation and workshops for second and third year faculty members, grades 9-12
Caribbean Preparatory $50,000 1:1 To significantly augment the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process in grades 9-12 by attracting and retaining excellent teachers through professional development training on digital educational programs that enhance student-faculty connections
Carrabassett Valley Academy $50,000 1:2 To support construction and completion of six faculty residences, grades 9-12, within the new dormitory
Chestnut Hill Academy $50,000 1:2 To support the construction of a LEED certified Science and Technology Center with funding directed toward: photovoltaics, solar thermal hot water panels and a wind generator
Denver Academy $50,000 1:5 To support the school's desire to raise scholarship endowment for students in grades, 9-12, through the Creating Bright Futures campaign
Ethical Culture Fieldston School $25,000 1:1 To purchase and place measuring instruments on the "green roof" of a new classroom building and another existing roof to measure the effects of the "green roof” with comparison with the traditional roof
French American International School $50,000 1:3 To advance the school's mission by providing increased funding for need-based financial aid, grades 9-12, in the short-term, and, at the same time, addressing issues of sustainability by providing a tool to encourage endowment giving
Friends’ Central School $50,000 1:5 To endow support for graduate work for faculty, grades 9-12
Fryeburg Academy $50,000 1:5 To assist the school meeting the costs of the new Performing Arts Center as part of the Phoenix Project Capital Campaign, whose goal has been to help the school recover from arson fire to the school's gym
George School $100,000 1:5 To support the building of a LEED certified new library and classroom building on the George School campus
Georgetown Day School $100,000 1:1 To create and sustain a Summer Equity Collaborative by helping educators develop an institutional roadmap for creating and supporting multi-cultural education and anti-bias-curricula in both independent and public schools in grades 9-12
Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School $50,000 1:2 To use over a three year period $50,000 to support students in the Sister Anne Marie Partners Program, grades 9-12, with matching monies added to the Sister Mary Berchmans Endowed Scholarship Fund
Kentucky Country Day School $50,000 1:8 To further the integration of computer technology into the school’s curriculum and instruction, grades 9-12
Laguna Blanca School $50,000 1:3 To establish, “Going to the Source”, a Summer Enrichment Grant Program for faculty, grades 9-12, to advance their scholarship, which will in turn, directly benefit the students they teach and mentor
Landon School $100,000 1:5 To develop an innovative Faculty Home Loan Program, representing an ongoing investment in faculty, grades 9-12, that will encourage teachers to continue their careers at Landon School
The Marvelwood School $50,000 1:3 For the building of a new athletic center, which features a regulation gym, a cardio/fitness center, a wrestling room and multi-purpose room for dance, drama and music
Marymount High School $50,000 1:3 To grow a specific endowment to support and sustain a comprehensive Faculty Mentorship Program which can serve as a model for other schools in the RSHM International Schools network
Middlesex School $50,000 1:3 To provide support for young faculty through early-career professional development in their teaching, coaching and residential responsibilities through a highly individualized, four-year program of in-service and summer opportunities
Mill Springs Academy $50,000 1:1 To fund the expansion of the fine arts program for high school students, grades 9-12, through the renovation of existing modular space and the purchase of instruments and equipment for the department
Parkmont School $25,000 1:1 To support the Staff Development and Career Enhancement Fund whose purpose is to better prepare staff to work effectively with students and to better prepare staff for extended careers in education
Pilgrim School $50,000 1:1 To help the school improve salaries for high school faculty, grades 9-12
Providence Day School $50,000 1:2 To support the travel component of the Global Teaching Certificate at Providence Day School for teachers in the high school, grades 9-12
Rocky Hill School $50,000 1:2 To support a variety of significant professional development opportunities for faculty, grades 9-12
Roland Park Country School $50,000 1:2 To help pay for the outright cost of bridge construction and trail improvement for the school's singular environmental and educational resource: The Backwoods, used by students in grades 9-12 for research in environmental science, geology and biology
Rolling Hills Preparatory School $50,000 1:2 To attract, nurture and retain faculty with professional development funds targeted for brain-based-teaching conferences and workshops with the added responsibility of teaching strategies to the rest faculty in grades 9-12 upon return
St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School $50,000 1:3 To fund the Science Commons, the centerpiece of a new science facility, Wade Hall
St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School $50,000 1:1 To help the school create the Saints Sustain Program, featuring the: "recycling" of a current space on campus; using this space for environmental science, biology, chemistry and ethics classes; and by making the process of reinvention and stewardship, a touchstone of a campus-wide sustainability initiative
Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart $50,000 1:2 To support financial aid for families of moderate income in grades 9-12 who are beginning to find Stuart unaffordable
Tower Hill School $50,000 1:1 To spur curricular review and innovation in the Upper School program at Tower Hill School, leading to an educational program that is student-centered rather than teacher-centered in nature
Wasatch Academy $50,000 1:1 To cover costs associated for the training of two faculty to become Schools Attuned facilitators, on-site training for up to 26 teachers and certification of Wasatch Academy as a Schools Attuned training site
The Williams School $50,000 1:1 To increase the endowment and support teacher retention and compensation for faculty in grades 9-12
The Winsor School $50,000 1:1 To secure seed money needed to implement a new graduation requirement, the senior Independent Learning Experience (ILE) with matching funds going to support the expenses for a half-time ILE coordinator for two years
